The Dermatology Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University traces its roots to the Department of Dermatology and Venereology of the Northwest Associated University Hospital, formed after the National Peking Medical College relocated westward during the Sino-Japanese War in 1937. With nearly 90 years of history, it is revered as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of Chinese dermatology.

The department operates outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, a laser cosmetic center, and a Dermatology Research Institute (including pathology, immunology, mycology, cell culture, and molecular biology laboratories). With 14 outpatient consultation rooms, it handles over 560,000 outpatient visits annually — the highest volume in Northwest China and among the top in Chinese medical universities. Approximately 3,000 inpatients are treated annually.
